Al Chesis has been blowing harmonica on Colorado stages since 1992, and the Delta Sonics have been backing him for most of that ride. The band plays Chicago blues at its core, then stretches into swing, Delta, New Orleans R&B, and early rock 'n' roll depending on the night and the room. Al has been a Hohner harmonica endorser since the beginning.
Colorado Blues Society Lifetime Achievement Award (2022). Named best harmonica-led band by The Denver Post. Best blues band in Denver by Westword Magazine.
The current lineup includes Alissa Chesis on bass and Stefan Flores on drums. Over three decades, the Delta Sonics have backed national touring acts including Big Bill Morganfield (Muddy Waters' son) and Steadyrollin' Bob Margolin. They have opened for B.B. King twice, Robert Cray three times, and Jimmy Vaughan twice.
The Denver Post called them the best harmonica-led band in the state. Westword Magazine named them best blues band in Denver. The Colorado Blues Society honored Al with their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022, recognizing over 30 years of keeping the blues alive on the Front Range.
